  • Hygienic slaughtering facilities and butcheries are needed to ensure that communities may purchase meat that is hygienically prepared. These meat facilities will purchase the meat from the owners within the small farmer development project. Phoenix Mining Services Ltd will establish these needed facilities to develop a health-conscious environment

Bread that is universally seen as a basic daily food source are not easily obtainable in these rural villages. This because of lack of facilities. Phoenix Mining Services Ltd will establish these needed facilities to bring this basic food source to the communities within our operational areas.

Maize plays an intricate part of the African food culture. Maize is ground down to almost a powder form and boiled to a thick consistency. The grounding is done by either stone or huge mortar and pestle like tools. This takes strenuous effort to prepare enough to feed one average size village family. Also, it is not always done in the ideal hygienically correct environment. Phoenix Mining Services Ltd Zambia will establish these needed facilities in order to produce milled products to be available to all these communities.

In Zambia the literacy rate of woman is quite low, especially in these rural communities. The woman is mostly unemployed looking after the children because their husbands are working in the towns or cities. This has a result that only one of the parents are earning an income. Phoenix Mining Services Ltd will establish skills development centres like sewing/ clothing manufacturing. Other skills development projects for men and woman will also be implemented as funds and resources become available.

Communities in the rural areas are facing the reality of no job opportunities because of underdevelopment. This means that the adults must become migrant workers in the towns or cities close by or even far away cross border to earn incomes to support their families. The development of our mines will bring much needed job opportunities in some areas. Although mining is a job specific industry, we did develop a strategy to employ as much people as economically possible. This by means of a very active environmental rehabilitation management program. This includes the development and management of a few Jatropha Curcas plantation projects in order to harvest the fruits for the production of biodiesel and feeding stock for cattle.

All of the above will be implemented with the goal of creating and developing an economic hub. Establishing the seeding for a new micro economy that is functional in creating incomes by means of interactive community trade. Stimulating growth and prosperity, and importantly supporting health and education towards a better tomorrow for these communities in need.
